Pop-Up Windows

Many internet browsers have built in tools that prevent new windows from opening automatically (also referred to as pop-ups). While some web sites use this pop-up technique legitimately, others use it as a means to display unwanted content. InfoGenius and AlertBot only use pop-up windows to display requested content and will never deliver unwanted content via a pop-up window. To configure your internet browser to display pop-ups from AlertBot, follow the step by step procedure found below for your particular software package.

Internet Browser Toolbars

Many companies provide free internet Toolbars that install into the internet browser you are using and include a pop-up blocking utility. While there are many to choose from, the following instructions are for the most popular Toolbar programs.

Google Toolbar

The Google Toolbar includes a windows pop-up blocker utility. If you have the Google Toolbar installed, you will need to disable pop-up blocking for the AlertBot Manager. To disable pop-up blocking for the Google Toolbar, follow these steps:

Locate the Google Toolbar in the Internet Browser you are using.
Locate the "Blocked" button that is on the Google Toolbar. This button has a count of the blocked pop-ups along with the word blocked.
Click on this button to allow pop-ups with in the AlertBot Manager.

MSN Toolbar

The MSN Toolbar includes a windows pop-up blocker utility. If you have the MSN Toolbar installed, you will need to disable pop-up blocking for the AlertBot Manager. To disable pop-up blocking for the MSN Toolbar, follow these steps:

Locate the MSN Toolbar in the Internet Browser you are using.
Locate the "Pop-ups Blocked" Button that is on the MSN Toolbar.
Click on the down arrow right next to the "Pop-ups Blocked" button.
Select "Allow Pop-ups for this site."

Yahoo! Toolbar

The Yahoo! Toolbar includes a windows pop-up blocker utility. If you have the Yahoo! Toolbar installed, you will need to disable pop-up blocking for the AlertBot Manager. To disable pop-up blocking for the Yahoo! Toolbar, follow these steps:

Locate the Yahoo! Toolbar in the Internet Browser you are using.
Locate the Pop-up Blocker Button. This button has an image of a window box with an orange shield covering the bottom right corner of the window box.
Click on the down arrow next to the image. This arrow is part of the button.
Select "Always Allow Pop-ups From"
A new dialog box will appear.
From the list of Recently Blocked Pop-ups highlight the Manager.AlertBot.com
Click on the "Allow" Button

Note: If the Manager.AlertBot.com is not on the list you will have to wait till you encounter a blocked pop-up within the AlertBot Manager.

Internet Browsers

In addition to any installed Toolbars, you may have to configure your Internet Browser to allow pop-ups from the AlertBot Manager. The following list includes the most popular Browsers and the steps required to allow pop-ups from the AlertBot Manager

Internet Explorer 6

Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 with XP SP2 includes a pop-up blocker that is by default enabled and will block pop-ups from the AlertBot Manager. To configure IE to allow pop-ups from the AlertBot Manager, follow these simple steps:

Locate the main menu in Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
Select "Tools" from that menu
Select "Pop-up Blocker"
Select "Pop-up Blocker Settings..."
A new dialog box will appear.
Type "Manager.AlertBot.com" in the "Address of Web site to allow" text box
Click "Add"

Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox includes a pop-up blocker that is by default enabled and will block pop-ups from the AlertBot Manager. To configure Firefox to allow pop-ups from the AlertBot Manager, follow these simple steps:

Locate the main menu in Mozilla Firefox.
Select "Tools" from that menu
Select "Options"
Select "Web Features"
Click "Allowed Sites" opposite "Block Popup Windows"
Type "manager.alertbot.com"
Click the "Allow" Button


In the Mac OS X version of Firefox, the Preferences can be found on the Firefox menu, not the Tools menu.

Opera 7.5

Opera 7.5 includes a pop-up blocker that is by default enabled and will block pop-ups from the AlertBot Manager. To configure Opera 7.5 to allow pop-ups from the AlertBot Manager, follow these simple steps:

Locate the main menu in Opera.
Select "Tools" from that menu
Select "Preferences"
Select "Windows"
Click the black down arrow opposite "Pop-ups"
Select "Open all pop-ups"
Click the "Apply" button

Other pop-up blockers

For any other pop-up blocker either in an Internet Browser or installed with a Internet Toolbar, we recommend that you go to the website for that software and follow any directions they provide for allowing pop-ups for particular sites.
