Real Browser Monitoring
Real Browser Monitoring is exactly what it sounds like. That is, for each test that is run, a real web browser, clear of any cookies and temporary internet files, is opened and follows a prerecorded script of instructions, essentially executing them in the same way a real person would. We provide two variations of Real Browser monitoring. A single page monitor, where all is needed for setup is a starting URL, and a multi-step monitor, where a predefined set of steps is recorded to be performed.
All objects on every page that the script "passes through" (up to the point where the script causes the browser to transition from one URL to another, such as clicking a link to move from one page to another) are loaded and tested real-time. Most web technologies can also be loaded, tested, and interacted with as part of this transaction. Following every test, any error or failure in any URL encountered is provided in the testing log and additional waterfall reports (which provides information including: DNS lookup time, TCP connect time, the time to first byte, transfer time, file size, and source IP address of every URL encountered) can be run on demand.
Virtual Browser monitoring, in contrast to the above, only tests the HTML of a single URL and cannot interact with any object, in any capacity.
