Server Port Field

The Server Port field is meant to collect the server's TCP Port number that you want to test. If you leave this field blank, the IP address will be tested (using a standard ping) but no ports will be tested.

Every application that runs on a server has a designated port number. This way multiple applications can share the same IP number but distinguish themselves apart by the Port number. For example, HTTP Web Servers use port 80; POP3 mail servers use port 110, and so on. When communicating with a server application you must always specify the address and port number. Some people may not realize this because many client browsers automatically default to the appropriate port without the user knowing.
