Troubleshooting Test Error #117700 (Not Responding)
Question / Issue: I received Test Error #117700 named "Not Responding" (or "Host/IP Not Responding"). What does this really mean?
Symptoms/Cause: This error indicates that at least one of the multiple Pings we performed from our test station to your domain/IP Address did not respond.
Answer / Solution: This error is a warning only and will not cause our test station to mark the test as a failure, in and of itself. Our test station performs multiple Pings when it receives one failed Ping. If this error occurs with two or more of our Ping attempts, the test will fail and report Test Error #114700. If that error is present in your test result, then the Ping failures have reached a critical level. Please see the related article below for Test Error #114700 for more details.
If you receive Test Error #117700, yet the test has passed or Test Error #114700 is not present, it is likely that your network equipment (possibly run by your web hosting provider or internet bandwidth provider) is intermittently causing data to be lost. This data loss is preventing some data transmitted over the network not to reach its intended destination (this is referred to as "packet loss").
Packet loss can happen on occasion and is not a problem unless it's happening on more than one or two tests per day. If you're experiencing more than this each day, you should discuss the issue with your network team or respective service provider.
