Troubleshooting Test Error #205700 (HTTP404 No Pg.)

Question / Issue: I received a Test Error #205700 named "HTTP404 No Pg" (or "HTTP404 Page Not Found"). What does this really mean?

Symptoms/Cause: This test error occurs when our test station requests a web page from your web server and your web server returns an HTTP 404 error because the page is not there. This error will cause a test failure.

Answer / Solution: Here are some possible solutions to aid you in troubleshooting this test error:

Ensure that the URL entered in the monitor is correct.
Check to see if the webpage is accessible by a normal web browser. It may be necessary to clear cache/temporary internet files to ensure your browser is attempting to download a fresh copy of the page.
In some cases, you may see reports of this error but are still able to access the URL in the manner described in the above paragraph or only see this error intermittently in Test Reports. This can occur if the site hosting the file is run on a cluster of web servers or a content distribution network and one of the servers in the cluster/network is missing the page. If the URL shown to have this error is hosted on your own site, refer to the IP address that's included in the Test Report's error message. This IP address is likely unique to the server in the cluster/network and, as such, can help you pin point exactly which server is experiencing the problem.
