Troubleshooting Test Error #217700 (HTTP416 Range)
Question / Issue: I received Test error #217700 named "HTTP416 Range" (or "HTTP416 Range Failed"). What does this really mean?
Symptoms/Cause: This test error occurs when your web server thinks that the file segment our test station requests does not exist or your server does not support Range requests for that file type.
Answer / Solution: The range header is a standard part of the HTTP protocol that allows web browsers to request a defined segment of a file. We test it as part of our website testing. Although it's rare, some web servers do not respond properly to this part of our testing.
If you receive this error, please contact our Help Desk. This part of the website testing can be disabled on an as-needed basis without affecting any of the other tests we run as part as our normal testing.
