Troubleshooting Test Error #719700 (HTTP404 No Pg.)
Question / Issue: I received a Test Error #719700 named "HTTP404 No Pg" (or "HTTP404 Not Found"). What does this really mean?
Symptoms/Cause: This test error occurs when our test station attempts to process a file that's part of your web page; but, the server where the file is supposedly located returns an HTTP 404 Not Found error because the file is not actually there.
Answer / Solution: Here are some possible solutions to aid you in troubleshooting this test error:
Ensure the file is still where your URL is pointing to. With many file types, you can do this by copying the URL that is provided in Test Report's error message, pasting it in your web browser's address bar and then hitting enter.
In some cases, you may see reports of this error but are still able to access the file in the manner described in the above bullet point or only see this error intermittently in Test Reports. This can occur if the site hosting the file is run on a cluster of web servers or a content distribution network and one of the servers in the cluster/network is missing the file. If the URL shown to have this error is hosted on your own site, refer to the IP address that's included in the Test Report's error message. This IP address is usually unique to the server in the cluster/network and as such can help you pin point exactly which server is experiencing the problem.
If the URL shown to have this error is hosted on your own site, either fix or delete the reference to the file in your HTML source code.
If the URL shown to have this error is hosted on an external site, the actual location of the file you're trying to reference may have changed or may no longer be available. In these cases, the reference(s), in your HTML source code, to the file that is causing the error should be updated.
