Web Transaction Verify Page Text Field

The Verify Page Text field allows you to configure your monitor to validate that specified strings of text either is or is not being displayed on your webpage. We highly recommended that you always use this feature when testing your pages. It ensures your pages are loading the correct content without error. There are several different options that you can configure to setup this text verification as follows.

"Verify a string of text" Checkbox - If this option is checked, this feature of your monitor will be enabled. If this feature is not checked, the verify page text feature will be disabled for this monitor.

"Enter a phrase displayed on your page" - Enter any string of text into this textbox to specify what string of text the monitor will search for on the page. Entering a string of text into this box is required when "Verify a string of text on the page" is enabled.

"Must Exist on page immediately" Radio Button - This option means that the monitor will verify that the string of text you enter into the textbox field is visible on your page immediately following your page loading or the last verification (if you have other verification features enabled for your monitor). We consider the page "loaded" when it becomes interactive for the user by default. However, you may change what is considered a loaded page via the "Verify Page Loaded" field (See the Related Article link below). If AlertBot cannot find the text string immediately, it assumes that your page was not loaded correctly, fails the test and alerts you.

"Must show up on page within X sec" Radio Button - This option means that the monitor will verify the string of text you enter into the textbox field and will check to see that it's visible on your page within "X" seconds after the page is loaded or after the last verification (if you have other verification features enabled for your monitor). We consider the page to be loaded when the value specified in the "Verify Page Loaded" field (in the "Advanced Options") is met. The distinction between this option and the option mentioned above is that this option should be used when you're attempting to verify text that that loads dynamically after the page is loaded (for example, content lazy loaded by JavaScript). If AlertBot cannot find the text string on your page within X seconds, it assumes that your page was not loaded correctly, fails the test and alerts you.

"Must not exist on page" Radio Button - This option verifies that the string of text you entered into the textbox field is NOT visible on the page immediately following your page load or the last verification (if you have other verification features enabled for your monitor). We consider the page to be loaded when the criteria specified in the "Verify Page Loaded" field). If AlertBot finds the text string on your page, it assumes that your page was not loaded correctly, fails the test and alerts you.

Note: To verify more than one string of text on your page, you can use the "Verify Page Text 2" feature in the "Advanced Options" section.

For best results, we recommend that at least one of the pieces of text you're verifying be located towards the bottom of your pages and that this string of text be a unique phrase that is not displayed on any other pages. This way, if AlertBot finds this text, you can assume that the correct page has loaded and that all of the content above it on the page was delivered.
