Web Transaction Web Browser Field

The Web Browser dropdown menu contains all of the web browsers that you can choose to test your website. Each time your test script is run, it will use the browser you selected. The Web Browser dropdown menu contains the web browser name, the version of the browser, and any add-ons that are installed on the browser. Below is an example and a breakdown of each part of a Web Browser value:

Example: "Firefox 3.0 with Flash 10 and Silverlight 3"

  • "Firefox" = Web Browser Name - the base web browser that will be used to run the script.

  • "3.0" = Web Browser Version - the version number of the selected web browser that you want to be used for the test. For example, Firefox has multiple versions of their browser – 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, etc.

  • Flash 10 and Silverlight 3 = the list of additional browser add-ons and their version numbers that are installed on the browser that is used for testing. Some websites may require these components be installed to fully render the page.

We highly recommend that customers setup multiple Test Scenarios on each of their monitors to run their test scripts on each of the major web browsers. It is often the case that web pages load different code and function slightly differently depending on the web browser, so it is imperative that you test your website with each of the web browsers used by your target audience.
